European Art Pottery: Porcelain & China ANTIQUE PORCELAIN & CHINA (See also American Art Pottery, Pottery, Japanese Porcelain (Schiffer Book for Collectors) by Nancy N. Schiffer Hardcover - pages (August ) Schiffer Publishing; ISBN   The book was not quite what I expected, I guess it is a bit more laser focused on the early development of porcelain in Europe than I expected. But somehow the author also writes a really compelling history that didnt feel like a chore to read, even though I kept expecting it to (there was so much content I just kept waiting for the book to /5.

The beginning of European Porcelain production. From the beginning of the 15th century porcelain was considered a valuable and luxurious material, (white gold), by the nobility and wealthy of the day and was bought from the merchants of Genoa, Pisa, Venice and Portugal. This fascinating book gives a broad outline of the history of porcelain-making in Europe. Principal stress is laid on the eighteenth century when the art of porcelain manufacture reached its zenith, but the achievements of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are also discussed.
